A group show at RuptureXIBIT in Hampton Wick, bringing together new works by contemporary artists Liz Crossfield, Hannah Delahay, Simon Klein, Fay Nicolson and Molly Rose Butt. Each artist explores a transition between the ‘still’ and the ‘lyrical’ – a state of liminality between rest and movement, chaos and contemplation.
Each artist explores a transition between the ‘still’ and the ‘lyrical’ – a state of liminality between rest and movement, chaos and contemplation. Still Lyrical invites a process of slow looking to appreciate varied materialities, qualities of paint and approaches to mark making. Thematic and formal connections appear across works; such as reference to mythology, still life and domestic space, cropped or loose figuration and carefully chosen colour palettes that establish a mood and set the tone.
